Do you know your Quercus Robur from your Quercus Petraea? Would you like to learn more about identifying native British trees?

Come and join Neill Talbot from Avellana Ecology, and John Chew, trustee from Avon Needs Trees to find out about “all things trees”. Together they will help you identify tree species such as hornbeam, hazel, field maple and alder, discuss the challenges facing trees and explore some of the folklore surrounding them.
You will be able to explore the Publow Oak, a veteran tree at Great Avon Wood which is over 500 years old and measures over 10m around its trunk.
The event will also be an opportunity to find out more about Great Avon Wood, a site with over 100 acres and where 40,000 trees are being planted and cared for by hundreds of volunteers.
Full details and directions will be sent out when you register your place. Please be aware that there are no hard-standing paths at Great Avon Wood and we are not able to allow dogs on site except for assistance dogs.
This event is free to attend and we are very grateful to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for their support.
