On 19th May, Jake Hart is running the Bristol-half marathon to raise money for Avon Needs Trees!

We caught up with him to find out how he’s feeling about the race, and why he is decided to support our work to create new permanent woodlands across the Bristol-Avon river catchment.

How are you feeling about running the Bristol-Half Marathon?

4 weeks from the run date, I’m feeling a mix of excitement and nerves! I’ll have friends coming along to encourage me on and to make sure I get over the finish line! However I have a lot of people expecting me not to give up!

What motivated you to take part?

I dwelled over doing the 10km Bristol run initially, however I decided that it wouldn’t be a sufficient challenge for me to justify asking people for their sponsorships. This will be my first half marathon and it will be a real personal challenge.

Why did you choose to fundraise for Avon Needs Trees?

Any of my friends will tell you, I’m completely obsessed with all things wildlife and nature. I think planting new forests and woods is essential to providing habitats for wildlife and helping to reduce the impact we have on the environment. Avon Needs Trees stood out to me as a local charity that reflects these priorities.

We would like to give a big thank you to Jake for choosing to fundraise for Avon Needs Trees. Our supporters make a huge difference to our work and every penny raised helps us further along our mission to create new permanent woodlands to benefit people and planet.
