Future Forest Fund
We’re looking for visionary partners to help make Lower Chew Forest a reality.
Plant trees, power change and report on the carbon impact of your financial contribution.
Avon Needs Trees is calling on partners to help deliver something extraordinary: the South West’s largest new woodland in a generation.
The winter planting season of 2025/6 will be our biggest yet with over 80,000 trees going in the ground. Yet we still have a significant funding gap yet to cover.
This dedicated fund gives your business or foundation the chance to support a tangible, high-impact area of the Lower Chew Forest project: the trees themselves.
This will cover not just the planting but the maintenance and care work needed to ensure the best chance of long-term resilience.
Together, we’ll shape a climate-resilient future, protect biodiversity, and create a place where people and nature can thrive side by side.
Turning ambition into action.
In early 2024, ANT secured 422 acres between Bristol and Bath to create Lower Chew Forest—a bold, landscape-scale woodland creation project that will establish 100,000 native trees and shrubs. This vast mosaic of habitats will restore wetlands, hedgerows, wildflower meadows, and species-rich grasslands.
A project of the scale of Lower Chew Forest requires significant resources to get off the ground. The trees themselves, saplings and whips are a significant part of this.
A contribution to the fund will have immediate, tangible impact and leave a legacy for generations to come.
Why get involved?
Demonstrate your Impact
We’ll provide indicative carbon and biodiversity reports to demonstrate impact to your key stakeholders. Whilst this isn’t official carbon accounting, we use the Woodland Carbon Code to model our estimates.
You can tell the story of Lower Chew Forest’s wider impact, such as our community outreach work.
Take Direct, Immediate Action
Lower Chew Forest is a fast moving project which will have an immediate impact – on climate change, biodiversity and flood management. Your contribution will benefit local communities for generations to come.
A high-profile template for the future
Lower Chew Forest has been featured extensively in local and national media, thanks to its innovative approach and the people-power behind it. We want LCF to become a model for new projects around the UK and internationally.
Hands-On Involvement
Come and plant your trees, and see your impact! Just 30 minutes from Bristol or Bath, our site is ideal for volunteer and employee away days.
Future Forest Funders
Why Act Now?
Tackle Climate Change
Once mature, Lower Chew Forest will absorb thousands of tonnes of carbon, directly supporting your ESG and climate action goals.
Supercharge Biodiversity
We’re boosting habitat value by 246% by 2030, creating rich ecosystems for birds, insects, and native wildlife to return and flourish.
Combat Flooding
A new forest will ‘slow the flow’ and reduce the impacts of local flooding. We will be installing leaky dams to benefit local villages, as well as downstream in Keynsham and Bristol.
Engage Communities
Over 5km+ of new paths, community planting events, and year-round volunteering will help people reconnect with nature—powered by your support.
A Donation That Does More
Your support means more than trees in the ground—it can open the door to a partnership:
- Sponsorship opportunities of key areas of the LCF
- Tailored employee engagement programmes.
- Co-produced comms to tell the story to your key stakeholders.
- Volunteering days at Lower Chew Forest for your team, bringing socials together with wellbeing and the satisfaction of hands on impact
Whatever your level of involvement, your support is integral in making this woodland a reality—and in demonstrating your leadership on climate and biodiversity.
