Summer Tree Identification Walk at Great Avon Wood

Would you like to learn more about identifying native British trees? Summer is a great time to do this, when the trees are in full leaf and […]
Come and celebrate birdsong with a guided walk at Hazeland.
The woodlands, canal, river meadow, hedgerows and open country should be alive with a mix of woodland and countryside birds singing to protect their territory and busy feeding their young. This is likely to be a very popular walk and Jonny will be helping everyone to listen to particular birds and perhaps learn one or two of the common sounds. We hope to hear birds such as blackbird, blackcap, robin, song thrush, skylark and chiffchaff. It is also a chance to simply enjoy listening to birdsong and the sounds of nature.
Jonny Cooper is an ornithologist and farm cluster facilitator specialising in farmland bird conservation working for the Wiltshire Wildlife Trust.
Please be aware this walk will includes slopes and uneven ground. There are no hard-standing paths at Hazeland and we are not able to allow dogs at events, except for assistance dogs.
This event is free to attend and we are very grateful to the National Lottery Community Fund for their support. We ask that you are respectful of the free place and make a commitment to attend when you sign up.
