Would you like to learn more about identifying native British trees? Summer is a great time to do this, when the trees are in full leaf and starting to form fruit.
Come and join Neill Talbot from Avellana Ecology who will help you identify native tree species in the countryside at Great Avon Wood. Neill will also look at the surrounding flora as we walk through the different habitats at the site.
This walk will take place in the ‘Hermitage Wood’ section of Great Avon Wood, off Parsonage Lane, where we completed tree planting this winter. There are fantastic views across the surrounding countryside and a chance to admire the ancient Publow Oak, estimated as 1000 years old.
This is one of three tree identification events taking place this year – each exploring a different season and a different part of the Great Avon Wood site.
Further details and full travel directions will be sent out when you register your place. This event is aimed at adults, but young people are welcome to attend if accompanied by an adult. Please be aware that there are no hardstanding paths at Great Avon Wood and we are not able to allow dogs at events except for assistance dogs.
This event is free to attend and we are very grateful to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for their support.
