The Valley around the 113 acres as Great Avon Wood has seen many changes: woodlands and orchards have come an gone, the railway and its steam engines have been built and disappeared, the River Chew has flooded and subsided and the Publow Oak has been growing there for centuries.
What stories are connected with this landscape and what tales does it inspire? With the creation of a new woodland what does the future hold? Join Mendip Story Circle for stories of the landscape here in the valley. The Mendip Storytelling Circle is run by and for people who love to tell and listen to traditional and contemporary stories. Colin Emmett, Martin Horler and Janet North each have their own distinctive style of storytelling which they will use to bring to life stories connected with the heritage at Great Avon Wood.
This event is open to all ages and everyone is welcome. Full details and directions will be sent out when you register your place. This is a fully outdoor event. Please be aware that there are no hard-standing paths at Great Avon Wood and we are not able to allow dogs at events, except for assistance dogs.
This event is free to attend and we are very grateful to the National Lottery Heritage Fund for their support.
