Amy grew up near Savernake Forest and as such has always had an affinity for ‘the woods’. Originally from an arts background; she holds a degree in illustration, specialising in natural history. In 2020 she retrained as a horticulturalist, subsequently leading her into land management. She has a particular interest in native trees and shrubs, orchards and hedge-laying.
She brings to the table a broad understanding of British flora and fauna and a deep appreciation of the natural world. Her role is very much ‘boots-on-the-ground’, implementing the establishment of habitats and monitoring wildlife across our sites. Concerned about the on-going Climate Crisis and the UK’s biodiversity loss, Amy began volunteering with ANT in May 2023 and progressed to become a volunteer leader and is an alumni from ANT’s Woodland Skills training course.
Amy has worked hard towards a career change into the green sector from many hours of volunteering, self-study and vocational courses. She is delighted to be working for Avon Needs Trees, who were there right from the beginning of her career-change journey.
When not working outdoors, Amy likes nothing more than to veg on her sofa, whilst watching anime and eating crisps.
