Sarah Kidd is one of our regular givers, generously donating to Avon Needs Trees every month to help us create new permanent woodlands across the Bristol-Avon river catchment.

She is one of our longest standing monthly givers, and has supported our work since the charity’s early days back in 2020. We caught up with Sarah to find out more about what motivates her to donate to ANT every month.

How did you hear about Avon Needs Trees?

“I saw a little business card for the charity in our local zero waste shop when I was getting all my refills. Then I saw an article about it somewhere else, and recognised the name so I read on to find out about it.”

Why is ANT’s mission important to you?

“I’ve been interested in protecting the environment since I was a kid. Now I have kids of my own, protecting the future of the planet seems more urgent. I want them to breathe clean air. It seemed fortuitous to come across a local charity with goals that would help clean the air, create habitats and biodiversity and provide natural environments to explore and enjoy.”

Why did you decide to support ANT as a monthly giver?

“Supporting charities that align with my values is something I’ve done since I’ve had a salary. I like to do it as a monthly giver because then I don’t have to think about it too much and its easier to budget this way. I also know that even if the donation is small, making it regularly allows charities to plan their projects better.”

Huge thank you to Sarah for her ongoing support – our work is only possible due to our amazing donors! Their generosity has enabled us to plant and care for thousands of trees since our inception, bringing communities together to create new permanent woodlands and fight the climate and nature emergency.
